Air Fried Tilapia (Keto Friendly)

Fish has so many health benefits its amazing, loaded with omega 3's, low calorie and a great source of protein without added fats like other protein sources such as red meat.  We decided to bring you a keto friendly Air Fryer Tilapia recipe that is not only low calorie and healthy but also very very delicious and tasty! This is one you will want to try out. Lets get this party started.


  • 2 Tilapia Fish Filets
  • 2 tbs Olive Oil
  • 1 Lime
  • Spice to taste including Old bay seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, ground cumin, paprika, salt and pepper 

Optional Side Dish:

  • 1 bag of mixed vegetables
  • 1 tbs salted butter
  • Salt and Pepper to taste


1- Prep Air Fryer and Season Tilapia

We start off by thawing out the Tilapia fish, we recommend leaving your frozen tilapia filets in the fridge and allowing it to thaw out for 12 hours in the fridge.  The CDC does not recommend thawing meats and fish out in room temperature to avoid it from spoiling and causing food poisoning. Take your thawed Tilapia filets and place them in a seasoning pan, add olive oil to each filet.  We recommend coating both sides of your tilapia with oil so that the seasoning adheres better to it.  Add your seasoning to both sides of the filets and allow them to marinate for 30 minutes in the fridge.  While the Tilapia is marinating we recommend pre-heating your air fryer at 400 deg for 5 minutes before you are ready to place your tilapia in the basket.

2- Cook your Mixed Vegetable side dish

While your Tilapia is marinating its the perfect time to cook up your mixed vegetable side dish.  Set your burner to medium high temperature, place your medium sized pan on the burner and add the salted butter.  Once the butter has melted add your frozen vegetables, add seasoning to taste, we recommend salt and pepper.  Mix up your seasoning with the vegetables then lower the temperature to medium, cover the pan while stirring occasionally to prevent the vegetables from sticking to the bottom of the pan.  It should take 15-20 minutes for the frozen vegetables to fully cook. once cooked remove from the stove and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

3- Air fry your Tilapia

After the Tilapia has marinated for 30 minutes, place the tilapia filets in your air fryer.  Make sure the crisper tray is in the pan prior to adding the filets, this allows the hot air to fully surround your tilapia filets while cooking in the air fryer.  set the temperature to 350deg and cook for 13 minutes.  At the 7 minute mark we recommend flipping over the Tilapia filets. Once fully cooked allow a few minutes for the basket to cool before serving on a plate.

4- Putting it all together

Once all has been cooked, serve up on a plate with a half lime and enjoy! a quick and easy delicious low calorie meal for you and your family to enjoy together!
